Technical Excursions

  1. Excursion into the Future of Energy: Power-to-Gas (Reallabor H2-Wyhlen)

Experience the energy transition up close! Visit an operational 1 MW alkaline electrolysis plant and a future 5 MW PEM electrolysis facility under construction at the Wyhlen hydropower plant powered by naturenergie hochrhein AG. Both use 100% green electricity for hydrogen production.

The tour of the naturenergie Campus Wyhlen offers exciting insights into a sustainable energy future—including the historic hydropower plant (since 1912) and a new climate-friendly heating center (operational from 2025).
Bus transportation to and from the sites is included.

  2. Bicycle tour to ASF: Use and production of hydrogen at the waste management of Freiburg (ASF)

Visit this local innovative project at the waste management of Freiburg (ASF). The ASF is transforming their fleet to hydrogen-driven vehicles and is building a hydrogen electrolyzer. Participants will see the waste trucks and the already built electrolyzer, and they will have the opportunity to discuss with the waste management personnel.

This excursion is by bicycle, so participants should be able to ride a bicycle. Bicycles and helmets will be provided. This excursion will allow participants to get to know Freiburg's extensive bicycle infrastructure.
