Friday Lab Tours
The ICE 2025 will offer three lab tours on Friday morning, August 29, visiting the facilities of Fraunhofer ISE, the University of Freiburg, Hahn-Schickard and Ionysis.
Attendees will be able to select one, two or all three lab tour as part of their conference registration. Participation in the lab tours is only available to those who have selected a lab tour during registration. If you select more than one lab tour, please make sure not to book more than one tour in the same time slot.
- Lab Tour 1: Fraunhofer ISE, Electrolysis Lab Auerstraße
The Fraunhofer ISE electrolysis laboratories are located outside the main campus in an additional building, which we will reach by bus. Fraunhofer ISE mainly works in the field of PEM water electrolysis, but also in AEM water electrolysis. On this tour you will visit the electrolysis test labs and get an introduction to the different in situ characterization capabilities of the institute. Moreover you can get a short view on our hydrogen injection station (hydrogen bleeding to the natural gas grid) with on site electrolyzer.
- Lab Tour 2: Fraunhofer ISE, Main Campus and Fuel Cell Labs, HeidenhofstraßeThe main building of Fraunhofer ISE is located in walking distance to the university's technical faculty campus. There you will get an overall insight into the various solar research topics of the institute and visit the fuel cell test laboratories (cells and stacks). Fraunhofer ISE is primarily focused on PEM fuel cells for mobile applications. Moreover you will visit our laboratories for the production of sustainable synthetic energy carriers.
- Lab Tour 3: University of Freiburg, Hahn-Schickard, and Ionysis
At the University of Freiburg and Hahn-Schickard labs, you will have the opportunity to explore facilities dedicated to the synthesis and characterization of novel polymers for AEM and PEM applications, the fabrication of membranes and membrane-electrode assemblies, and in-depth performance evaluation of MEAs for PEM and AEM electrolysis.
In the office and labs of Ionysis you will get an impression of the infrastructure which the academic spin off has built over the last 2 years. You will be visiting the collaborative office space and you will see both the lab environment and the pilot production line in the clean room.
Each lab tour has three available time slots:
- 09:00 - 10:30
- 10:45 - 12:15
- 13:30 - 15:00
